I'd do V 2.0

It would be easier to build and the angles that you introduced in V 1 aren't
really going to help you that much in rooms of that size.

refering to the iso booth size? should I increase the angles then?

yeah, v. 2 would be easier..

this made me laugh.

i like v2, that looks like a good layout brandy.

also, gobos.

thanks scoot. You're mom will be helping me with the gobos. She makes good cookies as well.

Man, the road out front is way louder than I thought.. It seems to be more of a noise issue than the f'ing airport. I'm gonna need a serious iso booth. And tracking whole bands may be difficult unless they don't care for a little motorcyle in their recording or can cough up another $100 to spend a day in a better tracking studio.... stress................... Eventually i'll be able to seal up that door better and make some plugs for the windows I hope...

The rooms are too small for angles to work. Better off with the simple buildout and adding treatment.

plugs in the windows will help a lot. in my old room (the one you saw) the window plug made all the difference in the world...

You should do some test recording.
You may be surprised at what the microphone actually pics up (of the noise that you are hearing)

true..

since i record a lot of punk and metal... i'm sure my chances of a drum overhead picking up something may be slimmer than i'm expecting.. BUT still want the ISO room for the quiet quiet stuff... and maybe a train, plane or automobile may add some GSYBE! texture... heheheh.

Do you have any leads on plans for such plugs? I"ve only made "semi-permanent" plugs. I'm wanting to make some that I can put in when needed and then let the sun (well there won't be any for another 6 months) shine when not recording/mixing.

current battles.

The possible three leaf construction since I cannot remove the second leaf, interior walls.

my colors aren't turning out... looks like ARMY in there now rather than sage green and macchiato.. maybe another coat..

the wall plug in my old room was, from interior to exterior:

1/2'' plywood
a sheet or two of 1/2" sheetrock
a couple sheets of soundstop
pink fluffy
fabric to cover the insulation

you need wood on the inside so you have something to screw the handles to.

that one weighs probably 60 pounds. i can just get it in the window. any heavier i don't think i could do it. in my new room, the windows are higher up on the walls, and there's no way i could lift something that heavy that high, so i think what i'm going to have to do is make 2 separate pieces for each window. the windows are 4' square, so i'm thinking of building 2x2' frames and stuffing them with all the leftover sheetrock and insulation from my build.

basically you just want mass and as tight a seal as you can manage. measure all careful-like.

cool. so not only are they plugs, but the insulation is on the outside (under the fabric) providing some treatment as well?

Record a couple of broke bands, and have them pay you in materials and soundproofing labor BEFORE you record them I'm sure there are plenty of broke guys out there wanting to swing a hammer/glue some sheetrock.

yeah. The guys i've hired to help put in a tub/shower, bathroom, bedroom, and redo the electricity, and general labor/help are all getting paid in studio time and "special tomatoes" from the garden. Its been nice way to work with other people with skills I don't have and to be able to work with them musically in the future. So far our costs have only been in materials which helps a lot.
