Elysia Mpressor Plugin!!

I just donloaded the new plugin version of the elysia mPressor . I am really psyched about this thing.

it just came out as VST/RTAS/AU. TDM soon to follow from what I read and understand after talking to the guys at AES.

I am SUPER psyched to have this on my iLok to take with me when taking my hardware Mpressor just isnt feasible... like on my Vespa across town... Wink

ilok in my pocket means mpressor in my pocket now!!!

Looks like it's $330 US.

Having heard Joel rave about the hardware compressor, I have to say... unless somebody tells me otherwise, I am probably going to buy this. Very exciting for those of us who work primarily ITB.

SO excited to try this thing out. Joel, any "holy shit, I was TOTALLY RIGHT to spend that $330" applications you'd recommend?

I was just messing with the Elysia plug: it is really awesome.
With some tweaking it will do stuff no other compressor will do. I love my hardware version, but it is AWESOME to have the plug in, and be able to take it with me in my pocket...

The EQ "voicing" for the compressor is so amazing, coupled with the GR limit function.... too much to blab about . just try it out. it really is killing.

the only other plugins I have purchased (besides massey stuff) lately would be the horribly ugly but great sounding liquid bundle from nomad factory. The modulated delays are killer in that bundle: RTAS is 189 dollars!!!

I always, always, always use the massey CT4, so if you dont have that yet, you really should be downloading it right now.

Next, get the elysia. Its a great, great compressor plug that just does stuff nothing else will do.

Ahh - I use Digital Performer so, unfortunately, the Massey Stuff is a no-go.

I'm going to download this over the weekend and report back. Excited!!

This plugin is amazing.

I've used compressor plugins that make me go "wow, this is going to be an INCREDIBLY useful tool" (see the Waves CLA-76). I've used compressor plugins that make me go "wow, this does some really cool stuff, I can immediately think of many situations in which I will use it" (see the Fabfilter Pro-C and Chandler Abbey Road Limiter).

This is the first time I fired up a plugin and just went Shocked

Will it be good for everything? Of course not. But wow, this thing sounds *alive*. I used it on a room mic with a negative ratio and quick attack to bring out the body of the hi-hats and cymbal crashes, slowly brought it up in the mix, and now the drums sound like they are *breathing on me.* I applied the mPressor more gently to a stereo overhead drum track and it sounded *amazing* -- with the EQ, I was able to give the track the perfect amount of "glue" while bringing down some of the highs in the cymbals in a not-even-remotely-artificial-sounding way. Amazing.
